WPC Future Leaders Forum 2016

In 2016, from 24 to 27 October, IBP – Brazilian Petroleum, Natural Gas & Biofuels Institute brought to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the fifth edition of the largest gathering of young professionals in the petroleum industry. Under the motto “Game changers: new leaders for a new competitive energy industry”, the 2016 edition of the event, created by the World Petroleum Council (WPC), had as pillars of discussion topics such as industry sustainability, business leadership and technology & innovation.

Leonardo Junqueira has more than 10 years’ experience in Finance leading positions. His experience includes a position as CFO/Deputy CFO during an IPO and a Private Placement processes, including responsibilities related to investor relations and post-implementation. He also occupied the role of Financial Controller of a 1,5 Billion $ Canadian project (funded through two projects finance) reporting directly to local general manager, and a temporary position in Repsol Headquarters (Spain) with the role as CFO Americas (LAM and T&T) from December 2015 to March 2016.
He is a civil engineer graduated at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, has a Master in Finance Derivatives and Capital Markets (Pontificia Universidade Católica – IAG/PUC RJ – Brazil) and an MBA in “Economía y gestión de las empresas de energía” (IESE, Universidad de Navarra, Instituto Superior de la Energía – Madrid/Spain).
Since April 2016 he occupies the role of CEO Brazil for Repsol Sinopec.

Professor at the Economics Institute at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Marcelo Colomer is researcher of the Energy Economics Group at UFRJ. He has a doctor’s degree in Industry and Technology Economics at UFRJ, a master’s degree in Industry and Technology Economics at UFRJ and a bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). Researcher at University Paris XI, he is also a specialist in the Oil & Gas industry working since 2004 with research in Industry Organization, the Dynamics of Energy Industries, Regulation and Energy Policies.

Rafael Jaen Williamson is a seasoned executive with over 35 years in the oil & gas industry, with strong technical and operational backgrounds. Rafael has spent the last 10 years in the public and government affairs space where he is considered a subject matter expert in advocacy, reputation and crisis management, and on strategic stakeholder management.
Prior to entering the public and government affairs field, Rafael devoted over 20 years to the managing and operating of refineries in the Americas, specializing in optimization of operations.
Rafael authored “Energía en Latinoamérica: crónicas de la búsqueda de una identidad” (ISBN 978-9962-676-02-7), a book on energy in Latin America. Moreover, he has contributed with a variety of energy-related articles to specialized magazines. He has delivered more than 18 international speeches to external audiences. He has also lectured as a professor in marketing to the MBA courses at Universidad Interamericana de Panamá.
Rafael was bestowed with the Interamerican Medal by the Interamerican University of Panamá. This medal is bestowed to members of the University community, who have accomplished actions and services in favor of the Institution, have demonstrated a special capacity and dedication, or have excelled in promoting the prestige of the University in a national & international level.
He is graduated in Chemical Engineering and holds an MBA, with emphasis in Marketing. With a multicultural background, Rafael is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. He has worked and lived in Panama, USA and Brazil.

Paulo Carvalho is post-doctoral researcher of the Production Engineering Program at COPPE/UFRJ, in the Laboratory of Advanced Systems in Production Management – SAGE, where he works with research about Sustainable Production and Management Systems.

He has 30-year experience in the oil and gas industry as senior executive in Sustainability, HSSEQ-SR, Compliance (Anti-Corruption and Ethics) and Human Resources, developed in multinational companies.

He is a Mechanical and Safety Engineer from PUC-RJ, with Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees in Production Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ.
